President's Report

Welcome to Summer 2023! I was excited to see all the activities and events that Carriers, brokerages, and financial professionals had for Disability Insurance Awareness Month last month. I trust that you had a successful month in spreading the word of the importance of Disability Insurance for prospects, clients, as well as other financial professionals, and helping more people to get this most valuable protection for themselves and others.
Let’s keep the momentum and excitement going by inviting more financial professionals and brokers to become a part of the International DI Society. You can invite them to up to two of our monthly Study Groups—details of which are on our website: www.internationaldisociety.com. We are also extending our new member promotion to allow them to become a member and see how IDIS can help them. As a Board, we are working on bringing more value and benefits to you as a member, including the new Financial Service Alliance to better help clients. More details on this and other benefits coming soon.
Please mark your calendar for our Annual IDIS Conference in Portland, Maine on October 9th through the 11th. This year’s conference looks to be one of the best for outstanding speakers with great information and ideas to share, more participating carriers that you can talk with, and added networking opportunities with others that have a similar enthusiasm for Disability Insurance. There is a New Member package that saves on the Conference as well as annual dues. There will also be opportunities for financial professionals to attend for one day of the conference and receive a discount on their membership for the year.
As your Board, we are always looking for new ideas and things that we can do as a Board to help you grow your business with Disability Insurance. Please, take a moment and contact us through our website. We would love to hear from you.
Let’s keep “Lighting the Way” with DI,

"Increasing Your DI Protection with Increases"

Join us on June 15th to hear from Derek True, DIA, DHP. Derek is the Brand & Operations Manager for The DI Center, a Brokerage General Agency in Allen, Texas that Makes Disability Insurance EasierSM for producers nationwide.
Individual DI has more future opportunities built into its markets than any other product. Not only do incomes go up throughout working careers, but needs change and responsibilities (read risk and exposure) are often amplified. Our products are incredibly sticky but most producers and even entire agencies do not actively follow up on their opportunities, much less point out where there might be new protection shortfalls.
A small change in your service mindset could mean a huge jump in your sales! It's been proven with top DI producers across the country.
Your clients already know, like, and trust you (I hope). Keep their business by building out yours!
Derek's title is a fun way to say that he oversees The DI Center’s brokerage marketing and underwriting processes with a knack for the income protection competitive landscape. More than any other metric, he takes pride in the agency's 94% policy placement rate across all product lines.
Derek has been primarily focused on individual DI since he graduated from Texas Tech University in 2010 but also knows asset protection, including advanced sales and executive benefits. His ability to simplify processes and deliver creative solutions has made him a national speaker on not only DI products and the market but agency service and technology.
It's not surprising to learn that he's been a NAIFA member for as long as he's had his license once you find out a little bit more about how he entered the business. In addition, he currently serves on the NAIFA-Texas Membership Value & TLRT Committee. He is also member of the Texas Leaders Round Table (TLRT) and International DI Society (IDIS).
