    The International DI Society (IDIS) is an organization whose members dedicate themselves to providing disability insurance to individuals, families, business owners and employers to afford financial security in the event that an unforeseen disability occurs.  We are devoted to growing consumer awareness and enhancing the disability insurance industry by expanding our members' resources, remaining current on industry trends, and providing a community for producers, distributors, underwriters and carriers to establish relationships and drive innovation.

    The International DI Society is an organization dedicated to growing the disability insurance industry through education, awareness, promotion of high ethical conduct of the membership and increasing the knowledge base of the agent, producer, company and carriers.

    The International DI Society Code of Ethics for Members  (Adopted July 31st 2007)

    By the International DI Society Officers and Directors of the Board, ethical balance is required to avoid any conflict between those offering disability insurance and the suppliers of disability insurance, and the obligation of your professional duty to the client and to the company.

    Therefore as a member in good standing of the International DI Society standing it is your responsibility to:

    • To conduct my personal and business affairs in such a manner that it reflects a positive image to my clients, my industry and the International DI Society.
    • To hold my profession in high esteem and place the interests of my clients above my business and/or personal interests.
    • To maintain my clients' confidences and consider their business and personal information as privileged and confidential.
    • To maintain the highest standard of professional knowledge and competency and strive to continue to maintain and improve my professional knowledge and skills.
    • To adhere to customary personal and professional standards of conduct in helping my clients to protect their insurable interests and replace any current insurance or financial product only when it is beneficial to my clients.
    • In determining the very best solution for my client, I will not be motivated to choose a particular product over another based solely on the commission I earn.
    • To stay informed and conform to the appropriate laws and regulations that pertains to my industry.
    • To abide by the By - Laws of the International DI Society.
    • To be accountable to the Code of Ethics of the International DI Society.



    Legal Duties, Data Management, Logo Management (Implemented February 2009)

    We have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you.  We use leading technologies and encryption software to safeguard your data and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorized access to it.  Any personal information that you provide to us will only be used for the purpose stated at the time we request it. This information will not be disclosed to any 3rd party. We may collect information from you when you fill in an online form, for example for membership application or registration at the Annual Conference etc., We may also collect information you give us over the telephone, via fax or other written communications means. The information collected is kept strictly private and confidential, and it will never be shared. We will NOT make use of your personal information for direct marketing activities, or supply this information to 3rd parties for their direct marketing activities.

    The International DI Society expressly forbids other organizations, societies or associations from using the Membership Directory and or any other membership listing to promote attendance at their functions/events, or to procure membership, advertise, market or use as a mass mailing tool. This is considered to be an invasion of privacy.  We endeavor to ensure that your data is stored securely and to prevent unauthorized access. We have security measures in place to protect your information, which are regularly monitored.  We endeavor to ensure we are in compliance with any US state, federal and territorial rules and regulations in regard to data protection. We do our best to comply with countries of origin of our members outside of the US in this regard.

    Our website and newsletter provide a number of links to websites associated with the International DI Society, but not operated or managed by us. We cannot be responsible for the use of any information you may provide or is collected via these websites, which means we cannot be held accountable for any violation of privacy. We strongly urge you to make sure there is a Privacy Policy and/or Statement that is in effect on these websites.

    The International DI Society does NOT permit the use of their logo on any other website, unless express permission has been granted. We feel it is a privilege and honor to display our logo and professional courtesy is generally considered. Display of a company logo or reciprocity to another organization, association or society is open and available and may be part of a sponsorship package. We have a listing of those companies, agencies and individuals who may display the logo, or have a direct link from our website to theirs, including organizations, associations and societies on record at the office of the International DI Society. We reserve the right to pursue the removal of the logo. As of February 2009 there is one insurance agency illegally displaying the logo on their website, due process for the removal is being implemented.
