President's Report

As we start to put Winter behind us and look to Spring, I’m pleased to report that our key IDIS committees have all “sprung” into action for 2023 and are already making great things happen.  Thank you to our Committee chairs – Max Schmitz (Annual Conference), Josh Lubas (Membership) and Rodney Mogen (Education).  They all are off to a strong start in implementing their plans for the year.  In the coming months, you’ll be hearing more about the work being done by each of these committees.

Education goes hand-in-hand with Personal Growth and Professional Development.  To this end, I encourage each of you to achieve your Disability Income Fellow (DIF), the American Health Insurance Plan’s (AHIP) most advanced disability insurance credential that focuses specifically on DI. By earning this title, you demonstrate full commitment to your career and organization while also highlighting your expertise to colleagues. As a member of IDIS, you’ll receive generous discounts for courses to fulfill the DIF and other designations. Please take advantage of these opportunities for self-improvement which also helps strengthen IDIS.  Please click here for more information.  

A quick but substantive way to expand your knowledge on DI is to actively participate in the DI Study Groups held via GoToWebinar on the third Thursday of each month. Think of the meetings as free coaching and an exchange on DI where you can ask questions and get immediate expert answers to specific areas of concern with your clients. The webinars provide a mastermind experience for all who attend and allow for in-depth discussions on a particular aspect of DI -- a true value-add at no cost to members. Annual IDIS Conference

Save the date for our 19th IDIS Annual Conference, which will take place in Portland, Maine on October 9-11, 2023!

Our Conference Committee is hard at work planning an event you don't want to miss! The IDIS Annual Conference will provide an opportunity to hear from expert speakers, reconnect with friends and colleagues, and stay up-to-date on current trends in the Disability Insurance industry. 

We are so excited to be heading to Portland, Maine - a city with "a perfect blend of present with a very special past".
