President's Report

This year is beginning with high expectations. Our industry will do well as we provide essential income protection services to our customers. We know better than most that Disability Insurance is the unsung hero in our field and view it as our duty to take the time necessary to make sure our clients know how to protect themselves against unexpected injury or illness that affects their future earnings potential.
The commitment we show towards our clients is the same commitment I pledge to you as the President of IDIS this year. I look forward to working together with the IDIS board and the full membership to accomplish our goals this year.
One key goal is to retain and increase our membership by serving the needs of group disability agents as well as we have served, and will continue to serve, the needs of individual disability agents. We also will strive to attract more producers, agencies, and insurance companies to join IDIS. As the only organization whose sole focus is supporting the DI community, we have much to offer to current and new members.
A second related goal to growing our membership is better defining who we are and the benefits we provide to all who join our IDIS network. We currently are working to do just that.
In addition, we’re already in the planning stages for the IDIS Annual Conference in Portland, Maine, in October. The speakers, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and the exhibitors are organized to provide the most current information and resources you need to perform at your best. We’ll pass along more information as it develops and look forward to having you join us in Maine in October.
IDIS can help DI practitioners be the best in the industry and my goal is to make IDIS the number one organizational choice for DI producers and brokers. Working together I know we can make this happen. You know best what you need and what is most helpful in your work. Feel free to reach out to me with any ideas on what we’re doing right, what we can do better, and where we might place our attention moving forward.
Our service and standards of excellence are part of who we are, and I want to continue to support each of you as you work to provide the best service and product to your clients to improve their lives. I’m grateful to be able to work with all of you this year as we work towards our goals for 2023.
Best Regards,
Greg Nelson, ChFC, DIF
2023 President

Member Buzz

Corey Anderson has been testifying the past few weeks at the MN legislature about Family Medical Leave, representing 2 associations. He is advocating for small businesses like DI Geek, along with many others.
In the past few years he has helped get a MN law passed that companies have 30 days or less to release medical records. This has benefited so many in the insurance business! If members in other states are interested in a similar bill they can reach out to Corey for guidance.
Do you have an important life or career update you would like to share with IDIS members?
Please send information to Mollie Montgomery at [email protected] so we can be sure to highlight your updates & achievements in our next newsletter!
